Question 4 in CMI's '15 Questions for Evolutionists' flyer challenges evolutionists to explain how natural selection can be the creative process evolutionists require. Natural selection explains the survival of the fittest, adaptation and variation within a kind leading to the great diversity of living things. It fits well with the biblical notion that God created life with the necessary programming to live in a variety of environments. Research in recent years by leading (evolutionist) geneticists has revealed catastrophically high mutation rates in humans. This would be a good thing if mutations really cause upward evolution. Instead the human race is plunging toward extinction. Based on data from genetics humans could not have been evolving for millions of years, we would already be extinct.

Evolutionists commonly cite the antibiotic resistance of germs as evidence for evolution. They believe that the germs must have evolved resistance, implying that they have changed and developed new things that they never had before. Some have said this is one of the best proofs of evolution. Once again science stands in opposition to this evolutionary belief.

'Genesis was written so that simple people could understand it'. For people who hold this view what they usually mean is, 'God really used evolution, but evolution is too hard to communicate to people who lived long ago, so Moses wrote about how God created in 6 days.' However, today evolution is communicated to children through critically acclaimed children's books. This begs the question: if God really did create over millions of years couldn't Moses have written it that way?

In school we are taught that 'Mutations + Natural Selection = Evolution', but do genetic mutations really help evolution? Changes in DNA are supposed to provide the new functions that natural selection 'chooses' leading to the evolution of simply organisms into more complex ones. However, leading geneticists agree that mutations lead to extinction, not evolution into something better.
